Taiwan’s Association of Recovery and Strengths Perspectives in Social Work
Prof Song Li-yu holds a Ph.D. in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University in United States, and won the 2009 Outstanding Research Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan. Since 2003, she has promoted the application of recovery and Strengths perspectives in various fields of social work in Taiwan, and founded the "Taiwan’s Association of Recovery and Strengths Perspectives in Social Work" in 2009. Her research studies have focused on the linkage of theory and practice. She has published articles in The British Journal of Social Work, International Journal of Social Psychiatry, Psychiatry Research, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal, etc. In addition, she has written six books related Strengths perspective, including “Strengths Perspective: Social Work theory and Practice” and her recent book titled “The Fusion of Chinese Culture and Family Treatment Model: Strengths Based and Striving towards Recovery.

Asheesh is the President and CEO of JA (Junior Achievement) Worldwide, one of the largest youth-serving NGOs in the world. During his tenure leading JA Worldwide since 2015, the organization has been recognized as one of the ten most impactful NGOs in the world in annual rankings and nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Prior to joining JA, Asheesh was a technology entrepreneur and led two businesses successfully from start-up to acquisition. His entrepreneurial endeavors have been profiled in case studies at Harvard Business School and Babson College. Asheesh is actively involved in the World Economic Forum (WEF) and has been an annual speaker in Davos for the last seven years. He started his career as a consultant at Monitor Company (now Monitor Deloitte) and at the World Bank.
Asheesh is the author of Modern Achievement (released in August 2024) with celebrated leadership expert Marshall Goldsmith, a book that reconsiders the definition of achievement for aspiring leaders. He is a sought-after keynote speaker with experience speaking at Fortune 500 corporate gatherings, the Great Hall of the People in China, the United Nations, and at major universities. Asheesh holds degrees from the Wharton School and Oxford University, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar.

Dr. Christian Waugh is currently a Professor of Psychology at Wake Forest University. He received his PhD in Social Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Michigan where he worked on the role of positive emotions in social cognition and resilience. After receiving his PhD, he did a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University where he investigated the neurobiology of stress and the temporal dynamics of emotions in at-risk populations. Currently, Dr. Waugh investigates the contextual utility of positive emotions during stress and the temporal dynamics of emotions. He has expertise in survey, experimental, peripheral, psychophysiological, and neuroimaging methods.
